Coworking and community
Sapphire Space is a coworking hub built for people the coworking industry usually overlooks. Launched in 2024, it offers hot desks, fixed desks and private offices across several London locations, from Grays Shopping Centre out east to City Business Centre in Rotherhithe and the Black Cultural Centre in Holloway, with a focus on young businesses, students and creatives from ethnic minority backgrounds.
It is more than desk space. Alongside the workspaces there is a leadership academy running programmes in leadership, financial management and public speaking, and therapy rooms supporting members' mental health while they build a career. It is part of a wider family of Sapphire organisations we have built websites for over several years.
A multi site organisation with a mission is a genuinely awkward website brief. Five locations all need to be findable, with addresses and directions somebody can act on. The membership options need to be legible enough that a student on a budget and a small company taking a private office both see themselves. And the purpose behind the whole thing has to come through without turning the site into a manifesto that never mentions how to book a desk.
Get the balance wrong in one direction and it reads as a property listing with no soul. Wrong in the other and a visitor who just wants a desk on Tuesday cannot work out how to get one.
We built Sapphire Space a website that opens with the offer and carries the mission underneath it. The desk options come first, set out plainly as hot desks, fixed desks and private offices, so somebody comparing coworking spaces can make a decision without reading an essay first.
Each location was given its own properly structured entry with a full address and directions, which matters as much for search as it does for visitors. A hub with five London sites should be findable by people searching near any one of them, and that only happens if each address exists as real, readable content rather than a pin on a map.
The leadership academy and the wellbeing provision were then given their own space rather than being footnotes, because for many members they are the reason to choose Sapphire over a cheaper desk elsewhere. The whole site is mobile responsive, quick to load, and built with SEO foundations in place. The team has full CMS access, so new locations, programmes and news go up as the organisation grows, which for this client happens often.
Sapphire Space launched with a site that does the two jobs at once: it converts somebody looking for a desk, and it explains to a funder, partner or journalist what the organisation is actually for.
The strongest endorsement is the relationship. Sapphire has come back to Fruitcake Media repeatedly across several organisations, including the Sapphire Employability and Wellbeing Academy, whose website we also build. Organisations do not keep returning to a supplier that made the last project hard.
Growing organisations outgrow their websites faster than anything else they own. A site built as a fixed brochure has to be rebuilt the moment a sixth location opens or a new programme launches, and that rebuild always arrives at the worst possible time.
Building on our own platform means new pages, locations and services are added rather than rebuilt, and the monthly plan covers hosting, SSL, daily backups and support throughout. If you run a community organisation, charity or multi site business, our pay monthly web design page explains the model, and our work shows the range of organisations we build for.
Yes, and it needs to. Each location should have a full address, directions and enough content of its own to be found by people searching nearby. Listing sites as pins on a single map is the most common reason multi site organisations lose local search traffic.
Our websites start at £39 per month with nothing to pay upfront, which includes hosting, SSL, daily backups, CMS access and ongoing support. For organisations working to a tight budget, a predictable monthly cost is usually far easier to plan for than a capital project.
Yes. Every site includes full CMS access so you can add pages, locations, news and programmes as you grow. If you would rather we did it, send it over and we will happily do it for you as part of your plan.
We do, regularly. The balance is always the same: the practical offer has to be easy to act on, and the purpose has to be clear to funders, partners and the press. Both matter, and one should not crowd out the other.
That is common with growing groups, and it is straightforward. Each organisation gets its own site and its own monthly plan, built on the same platform so the team only ever has one system to learn.
Growing organisations outgrow their websites faster than anything else they own. Ours are built to have sites, services and pages added without a rebuild every time you expand.
