Case Studies
Web design case studies from real small businesses
Real projects, real results. Below are twelve web design case studies: Cheshire businesses alongside small businesses from much further afield, spanning commercial contracting, hospitality, retail, farming, specialist repair, the creative industries and the charity sector, and what has happened for them since launch.
Every project starts with a conversation about the business, not a template. Some of our customers came to us with no website at all, others with an outdated site that no longer reflected the quality of their work, and several have been with us long enough that the website has grown as the business has. In each case the brief was the same: a professional website that looks the part, loads quickly, works on every device and turns visitors into enquiries.
Because every Fruitcake Media website is built on our pay monthly model, the businesses featured here did not have to find a large upfront budget to get started. Hosting, SSL, daily backups, CMS access and ongoing support are all part of the package, and many of these customers have gone on to add ongoing SEO, content support or social media management as they have grown.
Two campaigns that reached number one
AlphaOmega Frame Repairs is a glasses repair workshop in Crewe that now ranks first on Google for more than fifty search terms nationally, from Ray-Ban and Oakley repairs to glasses repair in ten UK cities. MCP Painting Group is a Manchester painting contractor holding position one for six of its core commercial and industrial search terms. Both are the product of ongoing SEO rather than a one off project.
What else a website can do
Scented Garden Retreat sells gift vouchers that generate themselves as a bespoke PDF and land in the buyer's inbox, with no admin at either end. Used Warehouse Solutions runs an entire product catalogue from an iPhone in a Northampton warehouse. Adventures on Wheels wanted to run the site himself, which every one of our customers can. Vagabond needed a design built precisely to its own brief because design is the product it sells.
Rebrands and refreshes
Libby's Patch was Libby's Pumpkin Patch until a rebrand freed a Cheshire farm from being defined by six weeks in October. Mini Off-Rovers needed an identity that stretched across three quite different hire propositions. Briox Landscaping had simply outgrown a site that was working perfectly well, and got a design refresh at no extra cost. Each of them keeps the site current through ShoutOut or full CMS access, or both.
And the rest
Studio Cynefin is an award winning weaving studio in a converted cotton mill at Bollington. Sapphire Space is a coworking hub with five London locations, and the Sapphire Employability and Wellbeing Academy helps Londoners into work and accredited training. Different sectors, different sizes, the same £39 a month starting point.
