How Much Does a Nursery Website Cost in 2026?

Nursery website costs

The short answer

A nursery website in the UK costs anything from around £10 a month for a do-it-yourself website builder to several thousand pounds for a bespoke design. Most nurseries choose one of four routes: build it yourself, buy a nursery template package, pay monthly for a managed website, or commission a bespoke design. The build price matters less than one question: who will keep it up to date?

The prices below are typical of what UK providers advertised in 2026. They are a guide to the shape of the market, not quotes, and every provider includes different things, so always compare what is in the price as well as the price itself.

The four ways to pay for a nursery website

1. Build it yourself

A website builder such as Wix, Squarespace or WordPress with a ready-made theme. You choose a design, write the pages, add your photographs and publish.

  • Typical cost: around £10 to £40 a month for the builder plan, plus your domain name and email
  • Good for: childminders and brand-new settings on a tight budget
  • The catch: your time. Writing a fees page, a policies page and a team page properly takes days, and someone has to keep it all current

2. A nursery template package

A provider who specialises in nurseries sets up a site from a standard nursery layout, with your name, colours, photographs and text dropped in.

  • Typical cost: a few hundred pounds upfront, often with a separate monthly fee for hosting or extras
  • Good for: settings that want something nursery-shaped quickly
  • The catch: check who makes changes after launch, and what each change costs

3. A pay monthly managed website

You pay a fixed monthly fee and the provider designs, hosts and looks after the website, usually including changes when you ask for them.

  • Typical cost: roughly £30 to £80 a month, usually with little or nothing to pay upfront
  • Good for: busy managers who want the website off their plate
  • The catch: read the minimum term, and check exactly what is included: hosting, email, changes, support and who owns the content

4. A bespoke design

A design agency builds a website around your setting from scratch.

  • Typical cost: from around £1,500, often several thousand pounds, plus ongoing hosting and support
  • Good for: nursery groups with several sites, a strong brand and a marketing budget
  • The catch: a large upfront cost, and updates are often charged by the hour

What actually drives the price

Two nursery websites can look similar and cost very different amounts. These are the things that move the price:

  • Number of pages: a one-page site for a childminder is a very different job from a 15-page site with rooms, fees, policies and a team page
  • Writing: whether you supply the words or the provider writes them. Fees, funded hours and policy pages need care
  • Photography: real photographs of your rooms and team make the biggest difference to how a nursery website feels, and stock images of children are a poor substitute
  • Forms and bookings: an enquiry form is standard; online registration or visit booking may cost more
  • Accessibility: building to WCAG 2.2 AA principles from the start is cheaper than fixing a site later
  • Hosting, domain and email: sometimes included, sometimes billed separately every year
  • Changes after launch: the cost most nurseries forget to ask about

The hidden costs nobody mentions

The build price is rarely the whole cost. Before you choose, add up what you will pay over three years, not just in the first month:

  • Domain renewal and email accounts each year
  • Hosting and security certificate renewals
  • Charges for changes, often per hour or per job
  • Your own time, or a member of staff’s, spent updating fees, menus, term dates and policies
  • A redesign every few years when the site starts to look tired or stops working well on phones

The last two are the expensive ones. A website that is cheap to build but hard to update tends to go out of date, and an out-of-date fees page or a vacancy that filled months ago costs you enquiries.

What a nursery website has to do for the money

Whatever you spend, the website needs to do the same jobs: answer parents’ questions before they visit, share what the early years rules expect you to make available, and make it easy to enquire. Since April 2026 the Department for Education’s statutory guidance has expected the costs of chargeable extras to be published on provider websites, so a fees page you can change quickly is no longer optional. Our guide to what a nursery website should include lists every page, and our guide to nursery fees and funded childcare on your website covers the fees page line by line.

Questions to ask before you sign

  • What is included in the price, and what costs extra?
  • Who makes changes after launch, how quickly, and is there a charge?
  • Is there a minimum term, and what happens at the end of it?
  • Who owns the domain name and the content if we leave?
  • Can we update it ourselves from a phone?
  • Is the website built with accessibility in mind?
  • Can it link to our parent app, such as Famly, Tapestry or Blossom?

What a Little Fruitcakes website costs

Nursery website design from Little Fruitcakes is a pay monthly website: £79 a month inc VAT, nothing upfront, with a 12-month initial term. The price includes the design, hosting, security certificate, daily backups, your domain and email where you need them, full access to edit it yourself, the Fruitcake Media app for sending us changes and photos from your phone, and support from real people. New policy? Send it to us. New photos? Send them. We make the changes, or you can update everything yourself.

Common questions

How much does a nursery website cost?

Typically from around £10 a month for a do-it-yourself builder, a few hundred pounds for a nursery template package, roughly £30 to £80 a month for a pay monthly managed website, and from around £1,500 for a bespoke design. Compare what is included, especially changes after launch, not just the headline price.

Is a pay monthly website better than paying upfront?

It depends on who will update it. Over several years a monthly fee can add up to more than a one-off build, but it usually includes hosting, support and changes that a one-off price does not. If nobody in your setting has time to keep the website current, a managed monthly website is usually the better value.

Can I get a nursery website for free?

Some website builders have free plans, but they show the builder’s adverts and use the builder’s web address rather than your own, which looks less professional to parents. Your local authority’s Family Information Service may also list your setting for free, which is worth having alongside a website, not instead of one.

What should be included in the price of a nursery website?

At minimum: the design, hosting, a security certificate, a mobile-friendly layout, an enquiry form and a way to update fees, menus and term dates quickly. Ask whether your domain, email, backups, support and changes after launch are included or billed separately.
