Landscaping and garden design
About Briox Landscaping
Briox Landscaping turns tired, neglected and outdated gardens into spaces people actually use. Working for homeowners across Chester, Wirral, Cheshire and North Wales, the company handles complete garden makeovers as well as individual pieces of work: bespoke patios, decking, artificial grass, insulated garden rooms and studios, water features, custom planting schemes and outdoor seating areas. Every project starts with a free, no obligation quote.
Briox have been with Fruitcake for a long time. We designed and built their original website, and as the business has grown the site has grown with it.
The Challenge
This project had no crisis behind it, which makes it worth writing up. The site was not broken, the business was not struggling and nothing had gone wrong.
What had happened is the thing that happens to every successful company eventually. The business moved on and the website did not quite keep step. The service list had broadened, particularly into insulated garden rooms and higher end design work, and the standard of the finished projects had risen. The design that had served the business perfectly well at one stage was starting to undersell it at the next.
That gap is easy to ignore, because nothing about it is urgent. It is also expensive, because landscaping is a considered purchase. Somebody spending a serious sum on a garden will compare several firms carefully, and they will read the difference between a current website and a dated one as a difference in the work itself. It is not a fair inference, but it is the one people make.
What We Built
We refreshed the design rather than starting again. The structure and the content that were working were kept; what changed was how the business presents itself.
The services now have room to breathe, with each strand set out on its own terms instead of compressed into a list: garden makeovers and design, patio laying, decking, artificial grass, insulated garden rooms, water features and focal points, planting schemes and terrace areas. The finished work carries more weight, because in landscaping the photography is the argument and everything else is commentary.
The free, no obligation quote is now the clear next step from anywhere on the site, which suits a business where the first conversation is genuinely consultative and there is no pressure to commit. Coverage across Chester, the Wirral, Cheshire and North Wales is stated plainly, since a homeowner's first question is usually whether you come out this far.
The Result
Briox now has a website that matches the standard of the gardens it builds. The wider service range is visible instead of implied, the work leads, and a homeowner comparing three firms sees a company that looks like the one that did the projects in the gallery.
The refresh cost nothing extra. It was part of the monthly plan the business was already on, which is rather the point of paying monthly.
Why It Worked
The reason this worked is that it was possible at all. On a traditional agency arrangement, a design refresh is a new project with a new quote, so most businesses put it off until the site is embarrassing and the job is a rebuild. Paying monthly changes the economics: the site can be brought up to date when it starts to lag, rather than years later when it has to be replaced.
That is also why long relationships suit this model. We know the business, we know what has changed, and improving the site is a conversation rather than a procurement exercise. If your own website is starting to lag behind your work, our packages page sets out what is included, our websites for landscapers guide covers the trade specifically, and our web design in Chester page covers the local side.
Common questions
What is a design refresh?
Updating how an existing website looks and presents the business, while keeping the structure, content and search history that are already working. It is faster and less disruptive than a rebuild, and on a monthly plan it does not carry a separate project fee.
Does a refresh cost extra?
Not on our plans. Briox Landscaping's refresh was covered by the monthly subscription they were already paying. That is deliberate: if bringing your site up to date needs a quote, it tends not to happen until the site is well past its best.
Will a refresh affect my search rankings?
It should not, and protecting them is part of the job. Keeping the existing pages and URLs in place is exactly why a refresh is safer than a rebuild, because the search history stays where it is rather than starting again.
How often should a website be updated?
There is no fixed interval. The signal is not the calendar, it is whether the site still represents the business accurately. When the services have broadened or the standard of the work has risen and the site has not caught up, it is time.
Do you build websites for landscapers and garden designers?
Yes, and the photography has to lead. Landscaping is bought on the evidence of finished projects, so the site has to give that work room rather than reducing it to thumbnails around a wall of text.
Has your business outgrown its website?
A refresh is not a rebuild. If the foundations are sound, bringing the design up to date is part of what you already pay for.
