What a Pay Monthly Website Actually Is

A pay monthly website is a professionally designed website you pay for as a fixed monthly subscription instead of a single upfront bill. At Fruitcake Media that fee starts at £39 a month and already contains the design, the build, hosting, SSL, daily backups, maintenance, security updates, CMS access and real human support. There is nothing to pay before the work starts.

Why small businesses choose to pay monthly

The upfront bill is the reason most small businesses put off getting a proper website. A one-off build has to be paid for before it has earned anything, and the quote is rarely the end of it: hosting, SSL renewal, security patches and a developer’s hourly rate when something breaks all arrive later.

Who owns the website

Your business owns its branding, its content and its domain name. That does not change because you pay monthly. What we provide is the platform it runs on, the hosting underneath it and the support around it, which is also why we only host the websites we build. Our hosting guide explains that policy in full.

It is a fair question to ask any provider, and the honest answer matters more than the marketing. If a company will not tell you plainly who owns your domain, ask again.

If you already have a website

Most people who move to us already have a site somewhere, often one they are paying for and cannot edit. In most cases we rebuild it on our platform at our cost, not yours, working from the content you already have so nobody has to rewrite their website to switch. Most people end up with a newer and faster site as part of the move.

How long it takes

Most brochure websites go live within around ten working days of us receiving your content and images. Larger sites take longer, and we will tell you which yours is before you commit rather than after.

Is pay monthly right for you

It suits businesses that want a professional website without a lump sum, and that would rather have someone to call than a subscription to a builder they have to learn. It suits sole traders, trades, consultants, gyms, clinics and small professional firms.

It is a worse fit if you want to buy a website outright and never speak to anyone again, or if you have an in-house developer who would rather own the stack. We would say so on the call.
